PARLOR TO HOLD PIZZA PARTY NEXT WEEK
By: Arial
The Parlor is expected to throw a party next week. The main theme: pizza!
Previously teased in the last edition of the paper, the Parlor is turning another year old since its founding. In 2013, the dimension appeared in the rural dream world. It would become a restaurant that specializes in pizza…a pizza parlor!
In 2023, the Parlor held an event to celebrate ten years of running. This event consisted of a party that served various pizzas on its menu to a large influx of customers who came to visit. Another event was planned for 2024 but was cancelled as a result of Operation Blackout and the Winter Storm Genesis.
Now, with the coast being clear, the Parlor is expected to throw a party for its twelfth anniversary.
“I’m so excited! I went to the tenth anniversary hoping to come back the following year but was disappointed when it was cancelled,” Miriam, a resident from the District told me, “I don’t blame them last year but I’m so happy it’s coming back this year!”
“The Parlor has a lot of interesting pizza items on its menu and I’m looking forward to the Hawaiian pizza,” Aimos, a rural resident told me, “Lots of people hate pineapple on pizza but I don’t! I think it’s better than pepperoni and I know it is.”
I spoke to a chef at the Parlor about additional details of the event.
“It’s going to be a two week event with lots of food to go around,” chef Brie told me, “Our menu’s main highlights are pizza but we also have some options like ravioli and pasta. The party will mostly have pizza to go around and various flavors and types too!”
Brie told me that they’ve already ordered large quantities of ingredients to prepare for the expected number of customers that this event will bring in.
“We’ve made sure to order ahead of time to make sure we have everything necessary to serve our customers for the big party!” Brie told me, “The tenth anniversary was a huge success and while we didn’t have an eleventh anniversary party, the twelfth anniversary will look to be a bigger success. I can’t wait to see people come in! We hope to see you there!”
The Parlor expects to hold this event in the coming week. Visitors are asked to prepare for heavy foot traffic and some moderate wait times. For more information, stick with the Tribune for the latest.
HOLIDAY SEASON ON THE HORIZON
By: Roman
The days are getting colder…
As we reach the final days of November, many residents in the dream world are already dreaming of a white Christmas. Winter is slowly approaching, though more importantly for many, the holiday season is near and its beginning to get noticeable.
Across the District dimension, a few areas have begun to put up holiday decorations such as holiday lights, Christmas trees, garland, wreaths, and more. While not officially the holiday season yet, many residents are already quite excited.
“I think it’s nice to see people getting to celebrate and observe this amazing time of year,” Fowler, a U.S. enclave resident told me, “We couldn’t really have this last year during this time so it’s nice to see people actually get in the mood.”
The Pole, where it is Christmas year-round, is slowly seeing more foot traffic from tourists. They expect to see bigger than normal crowds and more residents coming to visit the Pole HQ for appointments.
“We’re getting closer to the official start of the holiday season and people sure seem excited for it!” Rainier, secretary of Christmas Affairs said, “I know last year was quite doozy but everything’s looking a-okay this year! We’re expecting lots of people to come visit both the Pole and HQ. How exciting!”
When asked about booking appointments to the Pole, Rainier said the easiest way is by going on their website.
“You can easily book an appointment with us online on our website! From there, you can select what type of appointment you’re looking for as you fill out other relevant information for us,” Rainier explained, “Remember, it’s best to have an appointment with us as we tend to get quite busy during late November and December. Book one today if you’re looking for inquiries and assistance!”
Rainier said that there is technically no official start of the holiday season but likens December 1 as the beginning of it.
“I like to think that the holiday season begins on December 1 to coincide with the beginning of the winter season,” Rainier said, “It runs from then up until mid-January. Well over a month worth of holiday fun! I think that’s enough for most, if not, every person!”
For more information, please visit the Pole’s website. Additional resources can also be obtained by visiting their website, including tourist hot spots, things to see, and of course, booking appointments.
Q/A: Ask Nate
Dear Nate, is there internet in the dream world?
By: Webster Brouzer
Hello Webster! Just like in the real world, there is also internet in the dream world! Internet in the dream world functions very similarly as in the real world; you would need to get a connection of some sort, whether it be through wireless or cable connection. Once you do get connected, you have access to a lot of material!
I will say that internet service in the dream world varies by dimension. Not all dimensions will have access or WiFi that you will be able to use to connect to it. Service is quite spotty around the dream world, but you are always welcome to visit any of the technological dimensions like the Computer, Lab, Technology, and of course, Internet dimension for guaranteed internet access!
Something to note, some material you may try to access on the internet is restricted. The Council of the dream world also restricts certain content from being viewed. Plus, just like in the real world, you are always being monitored when browsing through pages or searching up things. Certain keywords or phrases can put you on the DPF’s monitor list; you won’t necessarily be arrested, but they will keep an extra eye on you just to make sure you aren’t doing anything wrong. Once it is determined you’re fine, you get taken off this list. The downside is that you never know if you’re on the list until you get a visit from an agent! So, be careful what you look up!
But as always, there are plenty of fun things on the internet here to check out. There are tons of news sources, sports, video viewing websites, even online games! My favorite online game is probably the one with the blocks. You get tools to mine blocks and make cool structures, and there are also animals in it too! It’s quite fun, but if you ever play, watch out for the monsters...they can hurt you in the game! Maybe we can play sometime together if we have time!
Dear Nate, what are some important things to always carry around in the dream world?
By: Bach Pak
Hello Bach! There are a few important items that one should carry when they’re out and about in the dream world. First and foremost: a flashlight! It’s very important to carry a flashlight or some sort of light source when out in the dream world. Much of the dream world is very dark and foggy, so some source of light is important to carry with you to light the way! Whether it be a flashlight, lantern, torch, or your own light source, it’s very important to be able to see where you’re going!
The second thing I recommend carrying is a watch. It’s true that time doesn’t really correspond with the time of day in many areas across the dream world, but it’s still important to know the universal time wherever you are. Many dream world watches also include the date, so you’re always up to date (pun intended!) on what day and what time it is.
The third thing I would recommend is bringing along some sort of identification. There are plenty of IDs that you can carry around that can identify who you are, where you live, how old you are, etc. It’s important to carry this around in case a DPF officer stops you for whatever reason! And if you feel like it's necessary, something to defend yourself with! There are baddies out there in the dream world, but it’s rare to encounter them. Should you encounter them, you should have something to defend yourself with! All DPF agents carry some sort of weapon with them, just in case something bad happens.
Those are just some things to consider carrying around, but I think they’re the most important! Of course, there’s the compass too, but those can be a little confusing to use in the dream world. If you’re out there exploring the dream world, have fun but be safe!
