RESIDENTS PUZZLED BY STRANGE, UNIDENTIFIED NOISES

In case you haven’t heard the news— no literally— you may have missed a developing story.

Residents have been reporting strange noises across the dream world over the past week or so. According to the public reports submitted to the Dimension Weather Prediction Service, residents have reported “low rumbling” sounds that seem to occur every few minutes at random times. The reports have, at the moment, only been reported from within the rural dream world, and they’ve been sporadic in nature.

The DWPS acknowledged that they’re attempting to find the source of the noises, though they suggest they may be “naturally occurring” noises that could be associated with tremors, or dreamquakes like they’re sometimes referred to. Dreamquakes are a natural phenomenon in the dream world that can occur anywhere, but they are very rare. Predicting these events are virtually impossible and even issuing bulletins may result in giving little to no advanced warning to the public.

“Tremors are rare events that can occur anywhere in the dream world as a result of everchanging human memories. They are naturally occurring so it’s not anything that a person could really replicate on their own,” DWPS senior meteorologist Cirrus told the Tribune, “For this reason, we believe the noises could be associated with a possible tremor as such low rumbling could signal such an event.”

However, the problem with this theory is that the reports themselves are sporadic and not fixated on one particular spot.

“When we get such reports, they are often in a centralized area of the dream world where the tremor itself may occur,” Cirrus explained, “But because the reports are coming from all around the dream world, it wouldn’t make sense to really assume a tremor event will take place, at least on such a large scale.”

Cirrus further explained that, perhaps, several tremor events could occur across different areas of the dream world, but such a scenario would be extremely rare and concerning. Thus, the DWPS is not necessarily suggesting a widespread tremor event nor also ruling out such possibility. They still suggest residents be aware of potential signs of a tremor and review precautionary plans should shaking be felt.

“The risk is still overall low but it’s best to review emergency plans if shaking is felt in your area,” Cirrus said, “Remember, we are able to issue bulletins but they will be issued with little to no warning to actually act. Keep your ears open and continue to report any strange noises to the DWPS.”

‘SPOOKY’ TOURS TO BEGIN LATER THIS MONTH

October has officially begun and things are looking spooky.

The Dimension Forest and Parks Service has announced that they will be holding limited time tours across allegedly haunted areas of the dream world. The agency stated that such tours have never been conducted before so tours of this kind will be limited to a number of people for this year in a trial run. Should the trial run be successful this year, the DFPS will open up these tours to all in the next year.

“We want to run a trial with tours concentrated on historic and supposedly ‘haunted’ areas in the wilderness of the dream world for this October,” DFPS chief Ahwi told the Tribune, “We have never conducted such tours which is why we only want to permit a limited number of people this year and then review the data and feedback to better shape these tours for the next year.”

The dream world has several locations that residents claim are paranormal in nature, though the majority of these locations are located deep within areas of the vast wilderness. Such areas are remote and abandoned which further add to the mystery and intrigue by those interested in them. The DFPS has not mentioned what locations will be included in these trial tours, but would make the announcement in the weeks to come.

“We’re currently reviewing candidate locations to include in these trial tours and will try to begin with around 5-6 locations at first,” chief Ahwi told the Tribune, “It won’t be a huge tour to begin with but should everything go smooth, we’ll consider adding more locations once we officially launch such ‘spooky’ tours.”

Dear Nate, why do mysterious figures tend to peek around corners in the real world?

Hiya Eycan! So you’ve probably heard or maybe even seen videos of people in the real world who record strange, mysterious figures peeking around corners. They can include doors, hallways, corridors, alleyways, windows, and more! But why do they do this exactly?

First, I think it’s pretty clear that these are fellow dream worldian residents who are either visiting or stuck in the real world! Humans tend to label them as ‘paranormal,’ ‘supernatural,’ ‘cryptid,’ ‘ghost,’ and other labels. In truth, most of these are not ghosts, but actual ‘creatures’ who live or used to live in the dream world. So again, why do they peek?

Well we have to fit into their shoes so the saying goes. If you were far away from home, you’d be scared about the current environment where you are! Simply put, these guys are curious, but shy about human interaction. Remember, they are just as scared as you as you may be of them! They tend to peek around corners because they are curious about the environment they are in, but do not want to draw attention. Moreover, sometimes they may only appear on cameras rather than seeing them with the naked eye. It still makes for a spooky video or photograph!

A lot of these videos and photographs tend to make it to the dream world where fellow residents can see them for themselves. While humans mark these videos and photographs as paranormal, it’s honestly pretty normal for us! I think I would also be peeking around corners if I was stuck in the real world. Lucid did say it’s okay to be curious, though I guess while also keeping your distance and playing it safe!
