DIA LOOKS TO BEGIN MONITORING DREAM WORLD
By: Porter
The Dimension Investigation Agency is looking to begin its next phase into finding the dream world’s most wanted fugitive.
After a rather long silence from the DIA following a mission into the Box dimension back in April, the agency is set to begin rolling out its next phase in its attempt to find Lucid— a figure that its chief detective vowed to find. In a memo leaked to the Tribune, the detective agency is conjuring up plans to set up surveillance cameras across different areas of the rural dream world to monitor for possible sightings of Lucid.
While the method itself is not necessarily new, its usage in this specific circumstance may spark new questions and concerns from residents. The DPF does use surveillance cameras, though these are specifically reserved for post-incident cases, such as reviewing footage after a crime was committed. Actively monitoring is not an active method that the DPF uses, but the DIA is looking to begin such a method.
It’s unknown whether the agency will plan to use existing CCTV cameras around the dream world. This would require special warrants or perhaps an order being filed by the chief detective to override existing rules. However, the memo suggests talks into incorporating their own cameras to avoid potential legal issues with private CCTV cameras. These cameras would be public, not private, and would present no immediate problems for the agency on the legal aspect.
Still, no official plans have been announced but it appears as if the agency will once again begin its pursuit of Lucid after a pause in its operations. The Tribune will update as information becomes available.
TRIAL CONTINUES FOR FRANCIS WITH DPF OFFICIALS STILL TESTIFYING
By: Roman
After a month since his trial began, the Council of the dream world continues to hear ongoing arguments and testimonies in its case against Francis Robert P. Jackson.
For the past four weeks or so, the Council has heard arguments and testimonies from DPF officials. From the information that is currently public, DPF chiefs who have testified so far include DDCP chief Ophelia, DFCU chief Vivienne, ROTU leader Finnegan, and DPU chief Matias who is still testifying. IAA chief Kamaria and former DIA chief Daiki have not yet officially presented their arguments and evidence before the Council of the dream world but are expected to do so in the next 2-3 weeks.
The amount of time that each of the “Big Six” chiefs will spend testifying depends on the amount of material and evidence they have to present to the Council. The lesser the materials, the less time they will spend in front of the Council. Regardless, all chiefs will have to remain within the chamber for any corroborations or rebuttals. Jackson himself has also testified and elaborated on claims made by both the plaintiffs and himself. So far, according to public knowledge presented by the DPF, Jackson has behaved in a “good manner” with “little issues present during the trial” so far.
Council-members themselves also take turns asking questions and listening to the plaintiffs and the defense during the trial which also may lengthen the amount of time a person takes before the stand. Even so, the Council is proceeding normally with the trial and external matters carefully keeping balance of the dream world itself in the process. At least two days of the week are reserved for recess from the trial itself and where the Council resumes its normal business and routines.
Even so, it’s still unclear how the Council is feeling about the trial itself and who they are leaning towards. Remember, Jackson will have to face two decisions: whether or not he was guilty of crimes committed in the dream world between 2022 and 2024, and whether or not he must be expelled from the dream world altogether. We will likely not have a final verdict for a few more months. This is a developing story. Stick with the Tribune for the latest information as it happens.
Q/A: Ask the creator
Dear Adri, how have recent real-world events influenced the plot of the story?
By: Rhea Liti
Hello Rhea! If you know me and the story well, you’ll know that events in the story may sometimes seem similar to events in the real world. There’s a reason why as I previously explained in the past but I’ll explain further!
Many, but not all, events and plotlines in the story have some sort of social commentary that I try to make clear. Oftentimes, the point being made can come off as eerily similar to real-world events that may also come across as “Does the developer/writer really support this in real life?” Truthfully, no, at least in 99 percent of cases. A lot of the plotlines in the story seem a bit ridiculous and cruel, but that’s the point. They are ridiculous and sometimes cruel because they reflect the society we live in. When it’s the DIA looking to become aggressive in its surveillance in finding Lucid, it’s meant to point out the ridiculousness of real-life government surveillance which also contradicts what the dream world should stand for: peace and safety.
Even then, my own views will reflect in these plotlines and overall themes, but not always in favor of them. If you know me, I am a very progressive individual. Any plotlines or themes that seem regressive or downright stern are also a bit of satire or protest. When Sylveran came into office, he signed a bunch of orders that seemed like overkill and a bit odd. The concept of having power should be reserved with limits, but sometimes in real life, there are those who ignore such reservations and limits. His actions reflect the absurdity and cruelness we have to live with in real life but they make their points.
And as time passes, the real world will change, but I can’t say whether it will evolve or devolve. Whichever happens, the story itself will sometimes be shaped to reflect the reality of reality. Life isn’t always sunshine and rainbows and sometimes peace will be disturbed, even in the dream world.
Dear Adri, who are the “celestial” people in the dream world?
By: Sel East
Hello Sel! Recently, I revealed one of the Council-members of the dream world: Esfir! Esfir is one of the seven members of the Council and she was revealed to be of celestial background/origin. Okay but, what the heck is a “celestial” that you’re asking about?
Celestial beings in the dream world are people who have been made up of manifested cosmic dust, particularly stardust but not always, over the thousands of years that the dream world has existed. Since the dawn of time, humans have always looked to the skies and believed in greater things and possibilities. The concept of a wish, you know, wishing upon a star? Wishes too are made up of the dreams of people who have hope. Since the dream world is made up of human dreams and nostalgia, wishes also encompass such composition, though on a smaller scale.
So if not the entire composition of the dream world, these wishful dreams will manifest as the dust of the cosmos which over time will gradually manifest itself into a living being. These people are essentially made up of the wishes and dreams of people over the thousands of years that they’ve made in the real world. When you wish upon a star, you are essentially contributing in the creation of a celestial being. Celestials are also immortal so rest assured that your hopes and dreams will live on until the end of time itself. So whenever you make a wish, just keep that in mind.
Indeed, celestials can be quite old and live long lives. Their personalities reflect the composition of the hopes and dreams that people have made so a rather kind and warm celestial may be made up of hopeful dreams while a cold, quiet celestial may be made up of lost hopes and dreams and wishes that never came true. Celestials also count for a decent chunk of the dream world population but aren’t the majority demographic. So far, we only know Esfir but we’ll get to meet more in the year to come…
