L.A.T.E. EYES SOCIAL MEDIA FOR FIRST TASK AHEAD OF OPERATING
By: Porter
The Dimension Investigation Agency is almost ready to begin its operation of the Lucid Apprehension Task Enforcement unit and it’s already teasing its first task on its to-do list.
In a press conference yesterday afternoon, DIA chief Sylveran spoke to the press about LATE and its ongoing process of beginning operations. The chief stated that it has already selected various candidates to begin working in the unit and stated that its first big task will likely begin in an online format.
“Many of us are aware that I want this agency to be up-to-date with the times in a grand modernization project I have been working to achieve,” the chief detective said, “I think this includes shifting focus on the online digital world— the internet— to make it more specific.”
The DIA is looking to use LATE to begin monitoring the internet, specifically social media websites, for pro-Lucid related content. Chief Sylveran stated that there is a “concerning” amount of content in favor of Lucid that is scattered online and wants to use the information and data in these posts to keep an eye on residents who could be involved in Lucid’s ongoing evasion of the law.
“It’s actually kind of astonishing to see a lot of people online talk very positively about Lucid even after what he did,” Sylveran stated, “It’s concerning actually. We don't need that type of content online. In some cases, it might lead to inflammatory actions or the pushing of incendiary content favoring Lucid.”
The DIA plans to use a PIA loophole that will allow it to issue warrants based on probable cause. For those unfamiliar, Peculiar Internet Activity (PIA), is a term used to describe a user's internet traffic that can be deemed as illegal and/or inappropriate. Normally, the Intelligence Affairs Agency monitors this type of behavior, but the DIA wants to use it as part of an effort to squash out content favoring Lucid claiming these users could be hiding important information leading to Lucid's arrest.
“We won't issue a warrant for passive search interest or discussion of Lucid related content but if the system flags you for consistent browsing, it may be enough for one,” Sylveran explained, “Information about Lucid was already scrubbed from the internet in its early days and we don't want people putting all of that back.”
The chief detective suggests it may begin with LiminalSpaces— the most active and popular social media site in the dream world— and ask the site to flag content relating to Lucid.
“We don't want to think you're hiding Lucid or hiding information from us that could lead to his arrest. We also don't want people spreading propaganda about him to make him look good,” the DIA chief said, “People have already been told by the Council to keep it low and clean. Let us handle Lucid related content and matters. Keep your side of the street clean for us.”
Chief detective Sylveran says that LATE will begin operating in the next two weeks or so. This is a developing story. Stay with the Tribune for the latest information as it develops.
FALL FAIR RETURNS TO DREAM WORLD
By: Oswald
The Fair dimension has returned and we can't handle our excitement!
Earlier this week, the annual fall fair made its return to the dream world. This seasonal dimension, which only appears during the autumn season, is already attracting many visitors. Some have traveled far and wide to have some fun and partake in the activities.
“I love the fair! It's always so fun to come out and enjoy the atmosphere,” Albertano, a resident from the America enclave told me, “My favorite part is the fun games to play. I want to win a prize so bad!”
“The smell of the fair is so good,” Izzy, a resident from the rural dream world, told me, “You can smell the popcorn through the dimension. The popcorn itself is actually pretty good and worth the trip.”
Among the different things to do at the fair, there is a stage set for karaoke and dancing, various game and food stands, pumpkins for picking, and of course, a giant ferris wheel.
“I think a lot of people come and get on the ferris wheel because it's the main star here,” Rensal, a resident from the Hotel said to me, “You can't come to the fair and not ride the ferris wheel. It's a must! It's a fun ride too for those in relationships, you know?”
The Dimension Patrol Unit has dispatched patrol officers to keep the area safe and has so far not encountered any serious problems. DPU chief Matías says the annual fair is relatively safe and reports little issues each year.
“We always dispatch patrol officers to areas of high traffic and with the Fair dimension back, we have done just that,” he said, “Luckily, there are very few major incidents to report each year so you can go have fun without fear of anything bad happening. We have officers there regardless to keep everyone safe.”
The Fair dimension is expected to stay in the dream world from now until the end of the autumn season. Visitors are asked to prepare for moderate to heavy foot traffic in and around the area. We hope everyone has a great time at the fair!
Q/A: Ask Nate
Dear Nate, how did you and Lucid meet?
By: Curry S.
Hello Curry! Wow, Lucid! Lucid… he is… definitely an interesting figure. It’s kind of embarrassing how we met, but I’ll still tell the story! In my early years of existence, I was quite mischievous. I always found myself in some sort of pickle, and would occasionally get scolded by those who were older than me. Playing pranks on others was always fun, but it also came with dangers. You prank the wrong person, you might pay the price.
This happened to me! I ended up pulling a prank on some sleep paralysis demons and they got really mad. I ended up running for my life because those two demons were after me! I ended up being cornered in an alleyway with no escape. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t terrified! But just as things seemed to be over for me, a figure leaped from the darkness and tackled them down with a large trident. It was so fast! He managed to scare them off into the night and helped me up.
He introduced himself as Lucid of the Dimension Protection Force, sent out after the headquarters received a distress signal from this dimension. That was when I found myself thankful for being rescued, and got curious to see what the DPF was all about. It was Lucid who got me to join the DPF in the first place!
Since then, it was Lucid who helped me with training, and we became very close. I am very thankful for him because he saved my life. Time has passed since then, but the memories of that night will forever be in my mind! Yes it was a strange first meeting, a bit embarrassing for me, but I wouldn’t be both where I am now and a changed dream demon without him!
Dear Nate, what is it about Lucid that you like?
By: Loov Lee
Hello Loov! Gosh, do you really want to know what it is about Lucid that I like? I mean, Lucid’s already an incredible person by everything he’s accomplished in the dream world. I think I should talk about the things I’ve seen firsthand…
You know, working at the DPF in my early days was a bit tough. Being the size that I am, I was often ridiculed behind my back and not seen to be of much help or assistance to others in the organization. When I got teamed up with Lucid, such things would continue, but I remember overhearing other coworkers talking to him wondering how he would “put up” with someone like me on his team.
I thought Lucid would say something terrible in response, but he actually stood up for me. He told them that they never saw the real side of me- but he had. He’d seen the Nate that’s able to be brave enough to go on risky investigations, the Nate who’s able to keep track of evidence and clues, the Nate who even if no one believes in him, still tries his best and doesn’t let others get to him. I had never known what Lucid thought of me until that point. To think that Lucid, one of the smartest and best agents in the DPF, thought all that and more about me… it really shifted everyone’s attitude towards me.
After that, people have been nicer to me and I’d say were even afraid to speak bad about me lest Lucid hear about it. If you’ve heard stories of Lucid portrayed as the “kindest” person you might meet, those stories aren’t wrong. Lucid’s been through a lot and sometimes I ask why he doesn’t just snap one day. I think all of us are lucky that Lucid is kind because he could’ve gotten revenge for what they did to him, and yet he hasn’t and won’t. Lucid means so much to me… I just hope one day people can forgive him and he can be free once more.
