WEATHER SERVICE MONITORING FOG CONDITIONS

The Dimension Weather Prediction Service is currently monitoring ongoing and future fog-related conditions across the dream world.

According to the weather agency, there appears to be growing consensus among weather models that conditions across the dream world will soon begin to get conducive for particularly foggier than normal conditions.

Such conditions are associated with a type of weather phenomenon known as “rolling fog.” 

“The term ‘rolling fog’ is a type of fog in the dream world that typically occurs in October as a result of the Halloween season,” senior meteorologist Cirrus told me, “This type of fog appears to be ‘rolling’ through areas. It’s fog that moves near to the ground at a slow to medium speed.”

Cirrus told me that rolling fog can make for some pretty “spooky” scenes.

“Rolling fog can definitely make some areas look extra spooky and definitely fit the aesthetic of the season,” she explained, “It’s a great fit for the Halloween season! I think people enjoy the phenomenon when it occurs.”

While there is no real danger to this phenomenon, Cirrus points out some potential hazards that could take place.

“Rolling fog itself is safe but people should be aware of their surroundings if traveling through the fog,” she said, “Areas will have their visibility reduced significantly which could hinder travel. Not to mention, things could lurk within the fog so best to travel in pairs and with flashlights.”

Cirrus expects the dream world to get extra foggy in the coming week.

“No weather stations are reporting lower than normal visibility as a result of fog but we expect it to happen in the coming week,” she told me, “We’ll be issuing a statement soon with information regarding it. Stay tuned!”

DPEC EXPECTS LOWER ENERGY USAGE THIS MONTH

The Dimension Power and Energy Company is expecting lower than normal energy usage across most of the dream world this month.

According to a recent statement, DPEC has acknowledged that customers may be using less energy soon in connection with the Halloween season. They expect residents to begin dimming or completely turn off lights to further increase the ambience ahead of decorations and main festivities.

“Halloween is a month that people like when it’s dark all around, you know, because it adds to the atmosphere,” a DPEC spokesperson told me, “So in doing so, they’ll likely use less power, in particular, less lights. When people use less lights, it lowers the energy usage for that household or busines, and of course, the dream world power grid too.”

DPEC stated that although people may use less energy, they may substitute electrical light for flashlights or most commonly, candles. However, DPEC reminds the public that, if resorting to candles, to remember about the dangers and risks.

“Candles can provide enough light in substitution of electrical lights but it can also be dangerous if they are left unattended or placed near flammable objects,” the DPEC spokesperson said, “It’s important to remember about fire safety if opting to use candles when dimming your environment. Be careful where you place candles and be sure to put any out if not in use. Safety first!”

The power company also stated that although power usage will go down in the coming weeks, they do not expect Operation Blackout type of darkness across much of the dream world as the danger is quite low.

“The dream world may look a bit darker than normal soon but this isn’t some extraordinary event,” the spokesperson said, “There’s no danger to the dream world. Just bring along a flashlight or candle if traveling through darker than normal areas.”

Dear Nate, can anyone learn to use supernatural powers?

Hey Ma! In the dream world, you’ll notice that some people can use powers and others don’t appear to use anything special at all. Truth is, anyone can learn, but depending on various factors, the level of said power can vary. Some species are “naturally” born with some sort of powers they will eventually learn on their own. For dream demons, they eventually learn to levitate and float on their own in the infant stage. For other things like teleporting, telekinesis, or any other supernatural power, you’ll have to learn that! 

Though let’s assume you’re not something like a dream demon, a werewolf, a vampire, or some other creature that is “naturally” born with some sort of supernatural power. You could learn something if you take the time to study and learn. For example, my friend Almoral had to study and learn how to be a necromancer. He has the ability to raise spirits from the dead! He wasn’t born with it, so he had to learn it. Anyone is capable of learning, but they just have to put in the effort and try.

Of course, you could always learn some basic things. Perhaps the ability to lift simple objects like cups, pencils, a phone, etc. Perhaps you learn how to manipulate water at a simple level. Nothing too over the top, y’know? Of course, maybe you opt to not learn anything special at all- and that’s okay! Some people just decide they’re fine without having powers and live normal lives! You can be like that, or you can be someone with a lot of immense power…like Lucid, which, come to think of it, is kind of scary… Having a lot of power but keeping so much of it to yourself, hehe…

I guess we’re just lucky that Lucid is patient and kind. I can’t imagine what would happen if he ever went overboard… I hope that day never comes! Like Lucid said before quoting someone, “With great power comes great responsibility,” so the moral of this story? If you have powers, be responsible with them! And if you don’t, well, that’s fine too!

Dear Nate, why do mysterious figures tend to peek around corners in the real world?

Hiya Eycan! So you’ve probably heard or maybe even seen videos of people in the real world who record strange, mysterious figures peeking around corners. They can include doors, hallways, corridors, alleyways, windows, and more! But why do they do this exactly?

First, I think it’s pretty clear that these are fellow dream worldian residents who are either visiting or stuck in the real world! Humans tend to label them as ‘paranormal,’ ‘supernatural,’ ‘cryptid,’ ‘ghost,’ and other labels. In truth, most of these are not ghosts, but actual ‘creatures’ who live or used to live in the dream world. So again, why do they peek?

Well we have to fit into their shoes so the saying goes. If you were far away from home, you’d be scared about the current environment where you are! Simply put, these guys are curious, but shy about human interaction. Remember, they are just as scared as you as you may be of them! They tend to peek around corners because they are curious about the environment they are in, but do not want to draw attention. Moreover, sometimes they may only appear on cameras rather than seeing them with the naked eye. It still makes for a spooky video or photograph!

A lot of these videos and photographs tend to make it to the dream world where fellow residents can see them for themselves. While humans mark these videos and photographs as paranormal, it’s honestly pretty normal for us! I think I would also be peeking around corners if I was stuck in the real world. Lucid did say it’s okay to be curious, though I guess while also keeping your distance and playing it safe!
