NEWS FLASH: The Dimension Investigation Agency is set to roll out new orders later this month, according to an insider. While nothing has been confirmed, the DIA has dismissed it as "rumor" and "potentially false information."
DREAM WORLD ENJOYS FINAL MONTH OF SUMMER
By: Arial
August has sailed in and if you feel extra salt in the air, you’re not wrong.
The dream world has entered the final month of the summer season and many residents are looking to enjoy it to the fullest. Because of this, various areas around the dream world are looking a little different as residents add decorations to make it feel more like a summer vacation.
“Summer’s the best season even if some people don’t want to admit it,” Elisa, a traveler from the District, told me, “I’m here at the Beach enjoying the waves and playing in the sand. This place is awesome.”
“They have a little summer get together here at the Apartments!” Federick, a resident at the Apartments said, “We’re playing football with beach balls and trying to get them in the goal. It’s a lot of fun!”
Based on a poll taken by students at the Academy, summer ranked first as the most popular season for students and staff there followed by autumn, spring and then winter. The same poll said that a majority of those who picked summer did so because of the weather and activities there are to do.
“Warm weather is beach weather! It’s also when there are just more things to do out in the dream world,” Thara, a student at the Academy told me, “The DFPS holds tours, people like going to beaches, there’s also camping, pool time, and a lot more to do! Also, there aren’t classes over the summer so it’s another win!”
According to the Dimension Weather Prediction Service, summer will end on August 31 then proceed with autumn beginning on September 1.
“Summer’s on track to end on August 31 and then we’ll transition into autumn once September kicks in,” DWPS senior meteorologist Neige explained, “Do keep in mind that these warm temperatures will begin to ever so slightly decline as September slowly creeps its way to our calendar. Enjoy the warm and overall great weather that this summer had to offer. It’s been a while since we’ve seen it this good, so enjoy it. I know you will.”
Summer is set to end on August 31. For the latest weather information, please visit the DWPS website. For activities and other fun things to do around the dream world this summer, you can visit our website!
DIA CHIEF REPORTEDLY FRUSTRATED, LOOKS TO DIVERT HEAT
By: Porter
A recent leak obtained by the Subliminal Tribune from the Dimension Investigation Agency is suggesting that its chief detective Sylveran D. Angelus is frustrated with ongoing matters and is looking to redirect negative attention to other important matters.
According to this leak, the chief of the DIA is growing frustrated and impatient with the current stalled order that Director Ferekides halted in May because of the confusion and backlash it was receiving. For those who forgot, the order placed charges back on criminals whose same charges were dropped in the past. This led to DIA detectives conducting arrests out of the blue with many of these individuals caught by surprise.
While the DIA has stated that this order is still under revision, the chief is looking for alternative solutions to “cool down” the backlash the agency received. Such alternative solutions appear to be orders involving personal identification and humans in the dream world. While the details of the potential personal I.D. order is still vague, the order involving human-beings in the dream world seems to be more of a recruitment method. Elsewhere, the chief is also growing impatient with the investigation into tracking down Lucid.
“The chief declared that he would track down and find Lucid himself using every tool at his disposal and is continuing to do so,” DIA spokesperson Kristopher Levy told the press last Tuesday, “These things take time and no one said it’d happen overnight. He’s very much working around the clock into bringing the dream world’s most wanted criminal to justice.”
Regarding the potential rumor of an order involving humans, Levy said he’s not aware of such an order, but would talk to the chief about it.
“I’m not aware of any such order in the works and if someone leaked it then we’ll have to have a look into who keeps leaking information to the press, especially rumors and potentially false information,” he said, “Regardless, I’ll speak to the chief detective about it and get back to you on this.”
This is a developing story. Stick with the Tribune for the latest information as it happens.
Q/A: Ask the creator
Dear Adri, was there anything you planned on doing that didn’t happen this past year?
By: Wuzzyn Tabletwo
Hello Wuzzyn! Yes, there was something that I had planned to do in the past year that just never came into fruition. Life happens!
Prior to Operation Blackout in November, I had a story quest planned that was going to act like the precursor for Operation Blackout. Think of it like the series of events that would have led up to this event. For Halloween last year, I wanted to incorporate some new characters that would have been part of a plot to hold a grand Halloween party at the Club dimension. Everything would have been going good until the power went out to which the characters would end up going to Almoral’s mansion to hold the party. The Club’s power outage was basically foreshadowing and preluding to the events of Operation Blackout, but that never came to be.
That Halloween quest was actually several parts in one with a subplot of Nate getting assigned to go on an IAA mission to Biz(zy) Mart! Nate was going to go to the mart to get some intelligence because both Kamaria and Daiki believed there was something more to this place than previous, existing intel was letting on. Nate would visit the store and find Sid there, but Nate didn’t grow suspicious of Sid at all. He would gather intel and Sid would send him off with a teddy bear (which is why there’s one teddy bear missing from the stand at the mart right now), but this subplot would lead Sid (Lucid) to grow suspicious that something else was afoot. While not necessarily connected, Lucid’s fear and suspicion would lead him to witness Operation Blackout in the following weeks. What could’ve been!
None of this came to be because of various life events which included two back-to-back hurricanes that left me quite affected. I was left without power for a week that basically halted anything I had planned to do for this scrapped Halloween quest event. While I wasn’t able to do it at all, I did manage to go on and do Operation Blackout (which was undoubtedly a pretty major event in the story!) and then the Holiday Party in December. Perhaps for this year’s Halloween Party, I’ll include some aspects of a party like the one I planned for 2024, though truthfully, much is still up in the air at this point. Would you be interested? Let me know!
Dear Adri, what does Lucid represent?
By: Lou Sid
Hi Lou! Ah yes, the main character of the story. It’s interesting that he’s the main protagonist and yet we don’t really see him too much, do we? Lucid’s character is nonetheless not perfect whatsoever even though he has everything to be considered as such. To understand what Lucid represents, it’s important to understand a few things about his character. This includes his backstory, his own personality, his friends, and other aspects of his life. And of course, each person has their own interpretation of him, so don’t think you’re wrong in your own eyes!
Lucid is known to be the most powerful and smartest character in the story and is seen that way within the dream world. So if he is just that powerful and smart, that should make him pretty untouchable…right? Not so fast! Lucid’s recent life is plagued by misfortune leading to him being a fugitive and then someone who’s cursed. Lucid’s power and intelligence should make him almost like a god and yet he falls short of that. It is also seen that Lucid is not necessarily happy about his life despite having all this power and all this knowledge. Think of it like this: a person may have all the money in the world and still not be happy. They can have everything at the touch of their fingertips and still feel like it’s not enough. Just because Lucid is extraordinary does not mean he’s happy nor perfect. He is still just a person with many flaws he has acknowledged.
Keeping his misfortunes in mind, Lucid is nonetheless still very humble and kind. Many characters have said that Lucid is unique in his gentle, patient, understanding and well mannered personality. How can someone who’s had their world turned against them still manage to keep it easy on others? I think Lucid’s demeanor is supposed to represent the good in any world. Yes, there will ultimately be people who will hate you or spread that hatred, but Lucid doesn’t cave into that. His empathy proves that, no matter what he’s going through, he still feels for others’ struggles and emotions. He places others first before himself and in doing so shows that there are still good people out there even if it feels like everyone else isn’t. Lucid could theoretically go out and seek revenge on everyone who’s done him wrong— which is what the Council has longed told the dream world he’d do— and yet…he hasn’t. The world might hate the Lucid that grew, but Lucid doesn’t hate the same world that watched him grow.
Alas, there are other aspects of his life that can be used as allegories to other themes. I’ve heard the argument that having to stay hidden from being captured can be interpreted as a queer person who is hidden in the closet afraid of being outed by the world, and it’s not a bad interpretation! Lucid can represent many things, but ultimately, there is a reason why he’s written as is. Yes, he is powerful. Yes, he is remarkably intelligent. He’s also not happy with his life but still isn’t unhappy with the dream world and how it treats him. There is hate in the world indeed, but there is also good, but that good has its limits on a person too. How do you interpret Lucid? I’d love to know!
