DPF ALLOWS DFPS TO HOLD BACKROOMS TOURS

The Dimension Protection Force has given the green light for the Dimension Forest and Parks Service to hold guided tours in the Backrooms dimension.

This is according to a recent announcement posted by the DFPS on their official website last Tuesday. In recent weeks, the DFPS had been pushing forth a project that would incorporate guided tours in the Backrooms alongside guided tours of the dream world wilderness itself. Chief Ahwi of the DFPs said he is satisfied with the result of this push.

“I’m happy to see that the DPF has allowed us to pursue this project and will begin planning it as soon as possible,” he said, “We’ve been floating this idea around since last autumn but needed to brainstorm how to go around with it. We think we have a good idea now of how it’ll go.”

The Backrooms is a rather big dimension that requires experience to navigate due to its maze-like layout. The DPF has not made it illegal to venture in it, but highly advises travelers to avoid it. With the DFPS’ approval, chief Ahwi said that DFPS rangers will be in charge of guiding travelers on tours to reduce the possibility of getting lost while keeping everyone safe.

“We’re quite aware that the Backrooms is rather tricky to navigate, but we’ll be preparing our rangers ahead of these tours so they won’t have trouble navigating it,” chief Ahwi explained, “We’ll provide them with maps that have most of the layout printed and have specific routes for them to use so they know where to go.”

Within the Backrooms, there are some notable landmarks that have gained some attention in recent years. The DFPS says that it will examine notable areas of interest and decide on areas that are in the best interest to peak curiosity and worth visiting on tours.

“In the Backrooms, there aren’t any official trail marks or signs to guide people around unlike in the wilderness,” the DFPS chief said, “We’ll have to go in and put up signs and the like ahead of giving tours in the dimension. We have some areas noted down as key points of interest. We hope that travelers enjoy what we have to show them.”

Chief Ahwi said that they should begin holding guided tours in the next few weeks, including tours within the Backrooms.

“We should have everything set up in the coming weeks and will keep everyone posted,” the chief said, “For the latest updates, please refer to our website and stay tuned for more.”

TEMPERATURES TO RISE IN JULY

The Dimension Weather Prediction Service has issued a general weather bulletin that details the forecast for the overall month of July.

According to the bulletin, the overall temperatures across the dream world for this month are expected to continue rising as a result of the summer season. While it was previously forecasted that summer would be average, the DWPS does still expect temperatures to be as such signaling it won’t be dramatically hot as it was two summers ago.

“We expect temperatures to be persistent with historical records of the summer season,” DWPS senior meteorologist Neige said, “Two summers ago was one of the hottest summers on record, but we don’t see things getting that hot this year.”

In 2023, the peak of summer saw temperatures hit all-time records in various dimensions and areas across the dream world. This has since been attributed with captured criminal Francis Robert P. Jackson— who is currently in custody of the DPF and behind bars— with his weather altering machine. Since Jackson has been captured, there is no threat for weather across the dream world to be altered on such a scale.

“The whole Francis problem is out of the way so we’re looking at a great summer ahead of us,” Neige said, “Yes, temperatures will get warmer this month as we reach the peak of summer, but in no way will it be excessively hot.”

Neige said that while the threat of Francis is over, there are still signs that the weather has yet to fully recover.

“All of our everwinter dimensions have not recorded snowfall precipitation since Jackson’s machine was turned off in late November signaling that the weather in the general dream world is still feeling the effects from the machine,” Neige explained, “While these dimensions remain cold and below-freezing, it has yet to snow again. We’re not sure if by the following winter it’ll begin to snow again, but we’re looking at other options and continuing to monitor nonetheless.”

Neige said to keep track of weather conditions if planning to travel.

“You should always check the weather ahead of time if you plan to travel this summer,” Neige said, “Remember to be safe while having fun.”

Dear Nate, what happens if a disease starts spreading in the dream world?

Hi Vai! Diseases are rare to spread in the dream world, but they do exist, and they affect people differently than others. Some might be naturally immune to it while others may end up catching it. Thankfully, many people who end up sick do not experience the worst of it- thanks to wonderful potions and medical elixirs that exist! 

Still, outbreaks of disease are possible, especially if it’s a new disease that hasn’t been seen before. The Dimension Disease Control and Protection, a department within the DPF, is responsible for handling and responding to such threats. Disease, viruses per se, are a level three threat on the DPF threat level list- the highest level! So such threats are taken seriously and agents are deployed to respond to the dimension it originated from, to which is also closed down while the threat is ongoing.

It can be very tricky though. Agents are tasked with trying to find the source of the outbreak and then trace steps to see where the disease may have spread off to. They do many interviews, investigations, and keep track of data collected to help prevent it from spreading. These agents are very skilled with their jobs, and always end up doing a good job! However, in order for agents in this department to be deployed, they must have authorization from the Council to do so. Since this is a level three threat, the Council is the sole body who can approve deployment of agents to these types of threats.

Disease can be scary, but there are always people out there working hard to stop them from going around and making others sick. Plus, we are always coming up with new elixirs and potions to make people feel better, so do not worry! If you think you’re feeling sick, you should head for a check-up, duh!

Dear Nate, what kind of powers does Lucid have?

Hello Po! Oh wow, a question about Lucid! Well, Lucid has many kinds of abilities, and this question would be better if it was asked to him, but I suppose I shall name a few.

Lucid has the ability to teleport to different places in an instant. In fact, a lot of dream demons should master this ability at some point in their lives. I’m still a little rusty with mine, which is why I prefer to walk most of the time. In the past, when Lucid and I were partners in the DPF, he would often use his teleport abilities to get to places faster than by foot. He would take me with him too. I remember his embrace each time we teleported somewhere…oh off topic!

In an ironic way, Lucid can also put others to sleep with a snap of his finger. Lucid’s done this a few times on missions before, especially when trying to capture criminals. He doesn’t really have to resort to violence…just one snap and poof! Sleep time! This ability doesn’t work on dream demons though…we don’t sleep! He can also move objects with his mind- telekinesis! He says this ability takes a lot of patience to master, because after all, you are using a large portion of your brain to be able to do such a thing. The ability to move objects depends on the object’s weight itself. A lighter object takes little power, while a heavier object takes a lot of power. Lucid says you can “train your brain” so you can lift heavier and heavier objects. He can lift me! Though, I suppose I’m not really heavy…

Regardless, Lucid has many more abilities up his sleeve, and his talent and knowledge have been acknowledged in the dream world by both the DPF and Council! He’s definitely an enigma and so dreamy…but don’t tell him I said that about him!! If you want to know more, ask him yourself!
