NEWS FLASH: DIA early numbers suggest steady decline of overall crime reported during May. The agency attributed this to its ongoing "successful" policies and orders since Sylveran took the top role.
DPF DIRECTOR HALTS CONTROVERSIAL DIA ORDER
By: Porter
Breaking news: the director of the Dimension Protection Force has halted a recent order issued by its detective agency.
According to the proclamation, Director Nikolaos Ferekides stated that the language within the original order issued by chief detective Sylveran D. Angelus was “too vague” and has caused some unintended consequences in its implementation. These unintended consequences have led to criticism and backlash from the public who criticized the arrests, in particular the arrests of those who have been living in the dream world with a relatively typical life— some with well established jobs and/or raising families.
Director Ferekides stated that after receiving various complaints from employees within the DPF in general, he began to read and interpret the order itself and determined that the language in it was too vague and led to unjust and confusing detentions of rehabilitated people. While complaints were reported by employees within the DPF, a leaked memo suggests that at least three top chiefs at the DPF also personally spoke with the director about the issue.
By issuing this proclamation, the director is only pausing the order from taking effect. He has asked the DIA to re-evaluate and re-write the order so it is not too vague. Once doing so, the director will need to sign off and approve the order before it is re-issued.
The DIA responded to this proclamation earlier today in a press conference.
“Director Ferekides has informed us that he has put a freeze on this order issued by the chief detective because he believes it is too vague,” DIA spokesperson Kristopher Levy said, “We wholeheartedly disagree. We believe it was a straightforward order, but we’ll be looking into it and giving it some changes to the director’s liking.”
When asked about the backlash and confusion that DIA agents are receiving, Levy said it’s taken out of proportion.
“I’ve heard there’s been some talk about the order and how people are responding to our agents, but we’re talking about a few miniscule incidents that don’t reflect a grand ‘rebuke’ of our order or policies in general,” he explained, “The grand majority of the dream world is in favor of this policy, it’s what the chief detective promised before taking his role, and if the press and media want to over exaggerate it, so be it, but it’s not that deep.”
Levy later stated that the DIA will proceed forward while drafting a new version of the order and thanked the director for not “tweaking” the order that chief Sylveran issued on his first day regarding Lucid.
“I think all of us at the DIA are glad that Lucid remains a wanted criminal as he should be and that that particular order is still withstanding,” Levy said, “With that in mind, we hope the revised order is up to everyone’s liking when we release it. We’re approaching one hundred days since the chief detective stepped into this post and we’ve gotten things done. Period.”
This is a developing story. Stay tuned to the Subliminal Tribune for the latest information as it develops.
SUMMER ARRIVES, LOOKS TO BE NORMAL
By: Arial
Summer has arrived to the dream world at last.
According to the Dimension Weather Prediction Service, the summer season officially began on June 1. After a rainy month in the dream world in the final weeks of spring, the weather improved by the end of May. As June entered last Sunday, the weather across the dream world returned back to normal, but it is noticeably warmer.
“Our weather stations picked up on the gradual increase of warmth over the past three weeks which is consistent for this time of year,” DWPS senior meteorologist Neige said, “As the rain tapered off, we saw conditions improve, but the temperatures in general continue to increase steadily. It’s pretty normal for summer.”
The DWPS released their Seasonal Outlook— a forecast discussion and bulletin for the season that details what they expect based on weather data, models, and other statistics. The outlook itself called for an “average” summer season. Neige says that he does expect it to play out as so.
“I know many of us are still a bit afraid of a season turning against us, but rest assured this won’t be a late autumn/early winter 2024 outcome,” Neige stated, “We crunched the numbers, and we crunched them thrice, and saw that there’s no strange anomaly or anything weird in the data to suggest something odd happening. We may finally have a normal summer after all.”
With summer being average, Neige explained that there is still the chance for severe weather to take place. Unlike spring, severe weather during summer is more sporadic and seemingly random. It does also include tropical weather related threats.
“Spring severe weather is more generalized as we just saw last month. Summer on the other hand is more sporadic,” he explained, “Thunderstorms are more scattered and they’re hit or miss. Most days it’ll be a regular thunderstorm that can rain itself out, but they still have a tiny chance to become severe. We also have to monitor our tropical and marine dimensions for any tropical cyclone activity. That’s a threat too.”
Regardless of outcome, Neige said the weather service is always monitoring conditions as they change and providing updates as they happen.
“Just stick with us here at the DWPS and we’ll get you through another season as we did through last spring, and of course, last winter and autumn. We got your back,” he said.

Q/A: Ask Nate
Dear Nate, can you explain what the rural dream world is?
By: Kuhn Tri
Hi Kuhn! You probably hear the phrase “rural dream world” often but wonder what the heck that is! It seems kind of odd to use that phrase, but it’s actually a real place. A pretty big place too! To understand what it is, you have to know what the District is, which I’m sure is another place you’ve heard mentioned before!
The District is where the dream world was born…literally! It’s an immensely large unnaturally made dimension that was built over where the dream world first began its birth. The grand majority of the dream world lives within the walls of the District. It’s divided into six wards with each ward broken up into different enclaves. The wards are inspired by architecture in the real world so if a human were to visit, it’d look pretty similar to the real world wherever you went. Don’t get me wrong though! There are touches of the dream world as far as the eye can see no matter the environment. I can’t stress how big the District is! Luckily, we have public transportation to get us to places pretty quickly, but it’s a different story in the rural dream world!
Speaking of, the rural dream world is basically everything and everyone else outside of the District walls! When you step foot outside of the District, that’s the rural dream world. It’s the dream world that’s been naturally made by human memories and nostalgia and where your typical dimensions are located. This area is by far MUCH bigger than the District…it’s huge! To get around the rural dream world, public transportation is more spotty. There are subway lines that go underground to transport people from place to place. Not many people live in the rural dream world in comparison to the District which is why it’s seemingly empty out there. Nonetheless, it’s an important part of our world!
Did all that make sense? The rural dream world is simply any place that is NOT within or is the District dimension itself. I’ve been around the rural dream world and met a lot of cool people in my days of patrolling dimensions. As I’ve said before, if you ever want a tour, just ask your favorite little red haired dream demon! (I’m talking about me, by the way, hehe.)
Dear Nate, how far down can you dig into the dream world?
By: Diggs Bilo
Hiya Diggs! That’s a pretty good question! When we think about the dream world itself, we often associate it with being a flat plane. Unlike the real world, we’re not situated on a planet nor are we in a planetary system revolving around a star. So if we’re a flat plane, can we even dig down into the ground?
The answer is yes we can! We are able to dig down into the ground for various reasons. Whether it’s construction, burying things, unburying things, planting a garden, or whatever the reason, the ground does have dirt and other materials in it. The materials you might find in the ground depend on the location and the layer in which you reach. The surface is the top layer preceded by the second layer which consists of topsoil, then the third layer of subsoil, then the fourth layer of parent rock, and then it gets interesting…
The fifth layer consists of dreamrock! These are rocks formed from the remnants of the dream world’s earliest beginnings. These are quite literally pieces of when the dream world formed and made up of ancient dreams and memories from humans in the real world. It’s quite difficult to get to as you have to go through varying kilometers of the other layers, but the fifth layer is the thickest layer of the ground. Lastly, there is a sixth layer underneath dreamrock that is simply called the “exo layer” or the outer layer. This layer is basically the “outside” of the dream world. It’s not to be confused with the Void— that’s a different place outside of this plane similar to how the real world is on a different plane than us. The exo layer has nothing within it and is impossible to get to!
I’ll be honest, most books only teach you about the five layers because the sixth layer is actually disputed. Since no one has been able to reach it, it’s sort of like a myth or urban legend to some people. So why am I telling you about it? Well Lucid actually confirmed it’s real! He had this theory too before actually doing research and finding out it’s a real layer! Unfortunately, this research was not published publicly, so the debate continues. Think of it like our little secret of knowing the truth! Would you want to dig deep into the ground to find out for yourself? Seems kind of scary… Let’s just stay up on the surface where we know everything’s safer and better!
