NEWS FLASH: The DIA has given a seven week grace period to DPF agents who have had charges reimposed on them by the DIA. These agents have been given notice to "figure out their options" before being subject to arrest in a week. The DIA notes they have the option to "self-report" themselves on the CrimeIn app to make things easier.
DIA MOVES FORWARD WITH ORDER TARGETING CRIMINALS WITH DROPPED CHARGES
By: Porter
In major breaking news, the Dimension Investigation Agency has moved forward with a policy that targets former criminals.
Following significant backlash last month, the agency has decided that it will ultimately be focusing on former criminals whose charges were dropped. This was announced earlier today at a press conference where chief detective Sylveran D. Angelus signed the order and spoke about it.
“Today I am signing this order that will reimpose criminal charges on over one hundred individuals whose charges were dropped in the last one hundred years,” chief detective Sylveran said, “These individuals should not have been let off so easily. With this order, it will allow DIA agents to begin investigating and arresting these individuals and bring them back into custody.”
Chief Sylveran said that upon signing the order, the DIA would begin to investigate the whereabouts of these individuals and set off the find and arrest them. Their range of crimes vary from arson, conspiracy, murder, drug trafficking, visiting the real world, and more. The chief pointed out that there are some names located within the DPF.
“I assembled a small task force within the DIA to inspect and review the names of those whose charges were dropped and pinpoint ‘the worst of the worst,’” the chief explained, “Upon providing me names, it was discovered that about fifty individuals are currently working in the DPF, which I think is insane.”
A letter from the DIA was sent to all chiefs within the DPF advising them the names of the individuals whose charges were reimposed and have given them a seven day notice before they would be subject to arrest.
“For those DPF individuals whose charges were reimposed, there is a grace period of seven days that they will have to get their things in order before being subject to arrest,” chief Sylveran explained, “Since this is rather sudden, they have a week to figure out their options unlike those not in the DPF who are already subject to arrest. Chiefs were notified today about this and are encouraged to assist the DIA with this order.”
The chief detective stated that the DIA does not have jurisdiction to fire these employees if they are not located within the DIA itself, but encourages chiefs of other agencies to take action against those employees and assist the DIA with enforcing this order. While chiefs themselves cannot be arrested for not cooperating with individuals, they could be targeted for harboring them— which already is illegal for anyone to do.
“I don’t have the power to arrest a chief so easily for refusing to cooperate with us, but if they are found to be harboring these individuals, they can be charged with such a crime which already is against the law anyway,” the chief said, “That applies to the public too. Anyone harboring criminals can and will be persecuted for breaking the law.”
The chief explained that the rationale for this decision is based on reimposing charges on Lucid back in March. He said that, while not affiliated with Lucid or his ongoing case, it would only be fair for other “dangerous” criminals to be reimposed with charges too to keep the agency “fair” and “balanced.”
“In a way, if anyone is upset about this order, it circles back to Lucid who really should be blamed for this anyway,” chief Sylveran said, “Had he simply turned himself in then we wouldn’t have been in this situation. It’s only fair that I do this to keep the agency fair and balanced. These are dangerous people and we’re going to get them off of our streets.”

RAINY WEATHER TAPERING OFF
By: Oswald
The weather service has acknowledged that the weather across the dream world is beginning to taper off.
According to the latest weather bulletin, weather stations across the dream world have been observing conditions that are improving. Heavy thunderstorms drenched much of the dream world in the past week or so leading to hundreds of storm reports. The agency now confirms that things are looking better.
“Yes, we’re noting that conditions across the dream world are looking much better than they did a week or two ago,” senior meteorologist Neige told me, “We had some pretty dismal downpours and strong thunderstorms move through much of the dream world. Those appear to be dying down.”
Neige said that the DWPS recieved over 500 storm reports with a majority of them occurring in the District. A majority of those reports are also being attributed with strong, damaging winds. Storm surveyors of the DWPS are also still out investigating and surveying damage to verify these reports.
“Anyone can submit reports to the DWPS about the weather and the damage caused by it,” Neige explained, “However, once a report is submitted, we’ll need to actually verify it. Sometimes we utilize weather station data to make determinations, but if it’s something physical we have to see in person, then a team of surveyors will be sent out to inspect and verify the report.”
With the weather slowly improving, the threat of severe weather is also decreasing. Neige said that the dream world is currently beginning to see signs of a transition into the summer season which he notes as typical.
“We typically see signs of transitioning into the next season by the end of the last month of the season currently taking place,” he explained, “Right now, we’re starting to see temperatures slowly climb up ahead of summer. It’s not a dramatic climb, but it’s noticeable on data as each day passes by.”
As spring comes to a close, the DWPS said that their Seasonal Outlook— which details the weather outlook for a specific season— will be released soon.
“Summer officially begins on June 1 and on that date we will release our Seasonal Outlook,” Neige said, “I can’t provide information right now about it as we’re still analyzing and looking at model data, but we’ll provide some more information in the days to come.”
For the latest information on weather conditions in your area or any area of the dream world, visit the DWPS’ website or your local forecasting office for additional resources.
Q/A: Ask Epsilon
Dear Epsilon, what are some known vortices in the real world?
By: W. Earl
Hello W. I’m sure you know what a vortex is, but for those who don’t, a vortex in the real world is a spiralling energy source that can allow humans to gain access to the dream world- usually by accident. In other words, they are portals to the dream world. All vortices have one type of specific energy: clockwise or counter-clockwise. Vortices with clockwise energy have a “lifting” force that is considered as positive energy. These vortices are not means of access to the dream world. From what I’ve learned, these vortices have a gentle and peculiar aura to them that most humans use for spiritual or astronomical purposes. Some examples of this in the real world would be Stonehenge, Mount Fuji, and the Temple of Kukulcán.
Counter-clockwise energy vortices have a “sinking” force that is considered as negative energy. These vortices are the ones that can land humans into the dream world, but again it’s usually by accident. Humans often view these vortices as “paranormal”, “unexplainable”, or even “haunted” but they’re really portals to our world. Some examples of this in the real world would be the Bermuda Triangle, the Hoia forest, and the Sherman Ranch.
Now don’t get me wrong: there are millions of vortices in the real world. That doesn’t mean there isn’t a chance for a counter-clockwise vortex to make a human vanish. Counter-clockwise vortices that are too weak still have a minute chance to “capture” a human and send them to our world. It’s not known what activates a vortex to make humans vanish into thin air, but it’s speculated that it has to do with the right conditions. Essentially, being in the right place for the vortex, but at the wrong time.
Many humans who go missing in the real world with no explanation are a result of stumbling upon a negative energy vortex at the wrong time. In recent years, some vortices have weakened dramatically, like the Bermuda Triangle, so it’s possible some of the more prominent and infamous ones will too. Vortices are a strange phenomenon in the real world that humans can’t explain, but hey, at least your local cat-boy is able to with no problem.
Dear Epsilon, do all doors in the dream world work correctly?
By: Oppen Ador
Hello Oppen. Doors in the dream world are another weird thing that is supposed to work correctly, but they don’t always do. They can be unpredictable. Most doors work fine. If you go visit the Cafe and open the door to it, you’ll enter the Cafe- nothing too weird. However, some doors in other dimensions can lead to either random “sub” dimensions, or nothing at all.
“Sub dimensions” are rooms that are recognized as “nostalgic” or “significant”, but too small to be considered a real dimension, and located in an abnormal place. They are sort of like enclaves as well, and there are many of these dimensions scattered throughout the dream world. This is where the door question comes into play. Some doors just lead to the most random sub-dimensions you wouldn’t think would be behind it. These sub-dimensions don’t really receive a lot of foot traffic, either because of its location or small sizes, so you’ll often find yourself alone in such a room.
And of course, some doors don’t lead to anything. Open a door, and it’s simply darkness or leads to a wall. It’s said that these doors are there because they do belong to a dimension, but there aren’t any memories to “create” a room behind the door. For example, a door in the Portables may lead to nothing because while human memory can recall the portable itself, it may not recall the inside of the portable, so that makes the door lead to nothing because the dimension is unable to “create” a room behind the door.
This shouldn’t discourage you from opening doors, however. Like I said, a lot of doors work fine and take you to their correct destination, but some doors will lead to nothing, or better yet, a surprise sub-dimension. The next time you’re traveling the dream world, why not try opening doors to see where they lead to? Just try not to open doors to houses, since you know privacy, but otherwise you may find a surprise waiting for you behind it.
