NEWS FLASH: The transitioning of the new year has been successful. Clocks striked midnight and ushered in 2026. Happy new year!
RESIDENTS RING IN 2026 WITH CELEBRATIONS
By: Porter
The calendar has officially flipped back over to the beginning!
2025 has officially ended and it went out in style! Residents across the dream world rang in 2026 with widespread celebrations. This includes parties, pyrotechnics, bells and lots of confetti!
In the District, residents across all wards were up late waiting for the clock to strike midnight. Upon hitting twelve, widespread fireworks were seen and heard, confetti was flying, and bottles of champagne were popped. Many residents gathered in prominent squares of their respective enclaves to celebrate the occasion.
In the rural dream world, sporadic celebrations were held with lesser crowds, but were nonetheless grand. In the Square, large crowds gathered to count down to midnight. Many shared a kiss at midnight while music played and confetti rained down.
Despite widespread crowds and celebrations, the Dimension Patrol Unit reported little incidents and arrests.
“We had an overall safe and great new year's holiday with little incidents,” DPU chief Matías told the press, “It's always great to see low incidents during a holiday. Good job to all of our patrol officers for keeping everyone safe.”
Sir Timely observed the changing of the year and reported that there was no problem whatsoever upon the transition.
“As usual, we transitioned into the new year quite nicely if I do say so myself!” Timely told the Tribune, “Let's hope for another fantastic and safe year for all of us in the dream world! We have another 365 days ahead of us now. Might as well get a head start on being productive!”
Timely also stated that he hopes people stick to their resolutions albeit how difficult they may be.
“Resolutions are fun to have but so many people don't stick to them!” Timely said, “Try to make it a resolution to stick to those resolutions! Each one you complete should be a great achievement! Get out there and make every second of every day this year count!”
It's a new year! From all of us at the Tribune, we wish all of our readers a safe and happy new year. Let's all make it one to remember! Happy 2026!
POLE DONATION DRIVE SUCCESSFUL ONCE MORE
By: Arial
Morphs for Changes has been another success!
The Pole’s second annual donation drive has been called another grand hit after raising in more morphs when compared to last year’s drive! Rainier, the Secretary of Christmas Affairs, held the drive to help out those in need during the holiday season.
“It was a grand success! I wasn’t sure what to expect this year but I was surprised!” Rainier said, “We managed to raise over 213,934,165 morphs! That’s much more than last year! I think it’s safe to say it did very well!”
Across the dream world, Pole workers had set up donation stations where residents could donate morphs. Residents could donate as much as they wanted to and all of the proceeds would be transported through special pipes that are directly connected to the Pole.
With the holiday season winding down, these donation stations will soon be taken down as well as the transportation pipes.
“The holidays are coming to an end once more, but hey, they’ll be back before you know it!” Rainier stated, “We’re likely to hold a third donation drive in December since this one was received well. We hope people remain charitable even in the off season though. Good deeds are always rewarded!”
Rainier said that business is back open at the Pole following the new year.
“And of course, we’re back to work here at the Pole again. Make sure you’re good this year!” Rainier exclaimed, “Of course, you have about twelve months to redeem yourself if you think you’ve been bad. Just be good! It’s nice to be kind, after all.”
The holiday season will persist for about another two weeks or so. Residents will continue to have the opportunity to view the lights and sounds of the season until then. Happy holidays and happy 2026!
Q/A: Ask the main cast
Do you prefer being indoors or outdoors on New Year's?
By: Innor Owtz
Nate: I always liked being indoors! I’d rather be cozy in my home to spend the new year. Nice and toasty!
Figment: Indoors! I mean, I’m in the Backrooms so… there’s not much else I could go to really enjoy the turning of the year!
Telly: Spending time in front of a television watching the festivities means I’d have to be inside to do so!
Almoral: Nothing wrong with spending the new year in the comfort of your own palace! Especially when you’re hanging out with some pretty special people!
Porter: I always liked spending it outdoors at different places each year to cover the festivities for the newspaper! It’s always so much fun!
Rainier: Spending it outdoors watching the fireworks at the Pole has always been so fun! Why not consider spending your new year’s at the Pole one day?
Epsilon: I like being indoors. Nothing wrong with going out but I just like being inside away from crowds and lights.
Cirrus: The outdoors is great especially when the weather cooperates! Otherwise, I’ll be indoors but I just prefer to be outside!
Dylan: It’s fun to go out and see what people are up to! Even if Epsilon doesn’t want to, I can always convince him if there’s a chance to go out!
Sylveran: Indoors. Only someone out of their mind would want to spend it in a large, loud crowd where you can’t hear yourself think.
M3-0W: Outdoors! I always liked traveling the dream world so getting the opportunity to do so and witness celebrations outside is always fun!
Ophelia: Indoors. Sometimes I think I am too old to be outside with many more people, but then again, everyone has their preferences.
Finnegan: As much as I love socializing, I honestly like spending it indoors! I’ve been happy spending it with amazing people and I could never change that.
Eliazar: I like staying indoors. It’s cold during this time of year and I’d like to stay warm inside with my loved ones as we watch the clock strike midnight.
Kodia: Outdoors! Celebrating the new year in the wilderness is a bit of a surreal experience because it’s just you and the trees out there with lots of peace of mind!
Daiki: Daiki was not available for comment.
Kamaria: I stay indoors. I’ll watch festivities on TV and celebrate the new year doing that but I could never really go outside to parties.
Vivienne: I love being outdoors to ring in the new year! It’s always so much fun to talk to others and experience the stroke of midnight every year!
Matías: I tend to be quite tired by the late night hours so I will spend it indoors and hope to be awake by midnight. It’s always a coin flip if I manage to stay up though.
Lucid celebrating with his boyfriend, Nate, and his friends Epsilon and Dylan during a birthday party for him on December 31, 2024.
