PIZZA PARTY MARKS 12 YEARS OF THE PARLOR
By: Oswald
Happy twelve years of the Parlor!
The famed dimension, known for its delicious renowned pizzas, is celebrating twelve years since it first appeared in the dream world. To commemorate the event, the restaurant is holding a pizza party!
“We’re holding a pizza party for the occasion and we got a lot of pizza to go around,” chef Brie of the Parlor told me, “Our pizzas are fresh and baked right from our ovens. They are to live for!”
The Parlor got a slight makeover for this event. Tables and chairs were moved around to make way for a long table to put several boxes of pizza on and to accommodate a large group of people. The pizza options vary, but the most popular pizza choice remains pepperoni.
“We have plain cheese, veggie, Hawaiian, spicy, sweet, three-cheese, two-cheese, no cheese, fish, sausage, three-meat, and more!” Brie said, “But our favorite dish, pepperoni, is the one that runs out fast the most!”
With the demand for pizza during the event, Brie reassured me that chefs are working around the clock to meet customer orders and ensure smooth, steady outgoing orders.
“Our chefs are working in the kitchen making sure that pizzas don’t run out as people come in to order and feast,” Brie explained, “We make sure to make enough so that we don’t end up with any extra orders that don’t end up selling by the end of the day. Any orders that are left over are donated to local food banks and community shelters to those who might need something to eat!”
According to Brie, anyone is welcome to visit the Parlor during this event, which is expected to last for two weeks. Pizzas are discounted during this time and customers can also place orders online to order ahead of time.
“We welcome everyone to come visit! Our pizzas are great and discounted for a limited time!” she said, “You can also order on our website to get ahead of the line and come pick it up. Please come on down! We’d be so grateful!”
The Parlor’s pizza party will last from now until sometime in two weeks. For the latest information, visit the Parlor’s website. From the chefs at the Parlor: “Bon appétit!”
SEASONAL CHANGES INCOMING, AURORAS TOO
By: Porter
Winter is coming.
That’s according to the latest weather bulletin from the weather service. The Dimension Weather Prediction Service released a bulletin late last night as they are monitoring seasonal conditions in the dream world. They point out that temperatures are indeed getting colder across the dream world but are not cold enough for freezing weather— yet.
The bulletin, written by DWPS senior meteorologist Neige, stated that autumn is slowly coming to a close leading to colder weather in comparison to a month ago. The colder weather will result in sub-freezing temperatures and widespread snow, albeit actual snowfall, which has yet to be seen since last year.
“Temperatures on a general basis will get cold enough to go below freezing in the coming week or so. This means that it will be conducive for a ‘snow snap’ to occur as we transition into winter,” Neige said, “A snow snap refers to the sudden appearance of snow in the dream world without actual snowfall precipitation being observed. This is normal for winter and not something to be concerned about.”
Neige then explained that, as a result of Winter Storm Genesis last year, snow hasn’t fallen across the dream world in the subsequent winter nor in everwinter dimensions where it normally does. There is a theory being investigated that suggests the massive unnaturally made freak weather event disrupted the environment to the point where it caused it to not allow it to snow.
However, with winter approaching, it’s possible that the season’s arrival could “reset” the environment once again to allow snow to fall.
“Unfortunately, that freak snow storm last November likely disrupted the environmental conditions that make it possible for it to snow which is why we haven’t seen one single observation of snowfall anywhere across the dream world,” Neige explained, “We think, though, that as winter arrives, this will be a manual, natural ‘reset’ that will get things back to normal. We aren’t sure but we’re hoping for a miracle.”
Elsewhere, auroras are also being hinted at, which are typical for December.
“And of course, we’re forecasting auroras to begin appearing in the skies soon as the holiday season approaches,” Neige said, “It looks like these auroras will be widespread, similar to last year, and may reach almost all corners of the dream world. It might be an extraordinary event. Stay tuned.”
The DWPS will release its Seasonal Outlook on December 1 which is also the first day of winter in the dream world. For the latest information, visit their website or your local forecasting office for additional resources. Enjoy the final days of autumn!
Q/A: Ask Nate
Dear Nate, what are some tips for the upcoming holiday season?
By: Getin Reddy
Hi Getin! The holiday season is coming and it’s coming up fast! There’s a few things you want to keep in mind as it approaches. Whether you’re looking to buy presents, visiting tourist attractions, or planning to travel to visit family, you’ll need to plan ahead of time— this is the key!
For holiday shopping, it’s best to start shopping now! Areas with retail stores, such as the Mall, begin to see more foot traffic as Christmas gets closer. It’s a good thing to start your holiday shopping as early as possible to find the perfect gift for someone! Retail stores typically have sales at the beginning of December with some as early as mid-November! These sales last during the holiday season so take advantage of it. You don’t want to be that person who ends up shopping with less than a week until Christmas. At that point, you’re practically asking for a stressful time at the retail store with long lines, lots of foot traffic and less gift options!
If you’re traveling in general, you should start planning for how you’re going to get where you want to go, when you’re going, and who you’re going with. The Pole dimension sees a lot of people visiting during this time of year and its HQ gets quite busy! If you’re looking for assistance this holiday season, the Pole HQ can best be accessed through an appointment. If you don’t have an appointment, oof, good luck! If you’re traveling to visit friends or family, be sure to begin planning now with how you’re getting there, when and with who. Transportation services see an increase of people during this time of year too and in the District, we see more traffic! Don’t get caught in a traffic jam, don’t forget to pack essentials, don’t be late and don’t leave anyone behind!
As you can see, everything is quite literally planning ahead! Being organized is good in any case but it’s definitely important now as Christmas Day is almost here! It’s also good to triple check your to-do list if you’re planning to shop or travel. It’s never too early to prepare so don’t be that person this holiday season who does things last minute and becomes stressed. We have about a month left…we got this!
Dear Nate, how do people get around in the dream world?
By: Carrie Bus
Hello Carrie! In the dream world, we have public transportation, but of course most of it is limited to the District dimension. The rural dream world often finds itself traveling by foot as vehicles and other transportation options are scarce. The Dream World Public Transportation System is in charge of regulating and monitoring all public transportation in the dream world. Whether it be by car, bus, train, boat, or even foot, they make sure everything's running smoothly— no pun intended!
As you may already know, getting around by car in the District is quite common. Taking the rail system is also common too in some wards! You can take the subway or metro and get from place to place within the district. Boats can also be utilized in wards with large bodies of water to take people from point A to point B. Aerial transportation is not common and typically consists of helicopters but you'd have to be wealthy to even afford such a method!
When I go to work, I take the metro! It is a rail system that the public can utilize in the District to get to different stops. I personally can't drive a car, so I just take the metro. It's fun to sit and look out the window as you're in there getting to your destination! The rural dream world often resorts to traveling by foot. Buses do run in the rural dream world but they are also kind of scarce. Only certain dimensions have bus stops, and even so, their destinations and stops are limited. The subway system in the rural dream world doesn't have trains to run on them in some areas, but they do pass through some dimensions. You're better off walking through the subway tunnels to get from place to place this way.
What method do you like to take to get to a specific place? I'd love to know! Hopefully our public transportation system continues to improve and find new ways to travel. The future is coming!
